Wymondley Road School

Our Story

Our school first opened its doors for classes on May 25th, 1959, under the name Otara Number 1 Primary School. The official opening ceremony took place on December 3rd, 1960, with the original school motto being “Strive for the Highest”.

In 1969, the school’s name was changed to Wymondley Road School, and the motto was updated to “Tu Rangatira”, which translates to “Stand Tall” or “Chiefly”. This change reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing students who are confident, resilient, and proud of their cultural heritage.

Over the decades, Wymondley Road School has remained a vibrant and welcoming community, where students, teachers, and families come together to learn, grow, and celebrate their diversity. We are proud of our rich history and the legacy of excellence that continues to guide us today.

We invite you to be a part of our story and to experience the warmth and energy that make Wymondley Road School an extraordinary place.
